Mumbai Fire Brigade & Maharashtra Fire Service Observed Fire Service Week with great celebration
Drills & Sporting activity mark Fire Service week from 14th to 20th April
Every Year 14th April is observed as Fire Service Day in India as a part to pay homage to those brave Fire Fighters, who sacrificed their lives in line to their duty on 14th April, 1944. Industries observe this day / week as Fire Service day / Week and conduct Training, Drills and Rehearsals to demonstrate the Preparedness to combat emergencies.
The fire service week is celebrated in order to pay respect to the martyrs of the fire department.
A few of the activities that happened in the week
The Week Kick started & began at the Mumbai fire department's 14 April 2018 at Byculla command Centre as they held a ceremony in order to mark the begning of the fire service week along with MC as Chief guest. Homage paid to d Martyrs. A Number of mock Drills, Lectures and Demonstrations were conducted across Mumbai to create fire safety awareness among people.
Exhibitions, a demonstrations and Lectures on fire fighting and Rescue equipment were organised in Malad, Wadala and Mankhurd Fire stations on 15th April.
An Industrial drill was undertaken on 16th at MFSA Kalina. Tactical Medlay drill was conducted at Borivali command centre where MFB secured 1st prize both in team n individual events.
The concluding ceremony was held at Kalina University ground on 20th April. A Grand Parade was conducted followed with the Prize distribution of every Fire Department that participated in the various sporting activities & drills that happened or commenced in various companies Fire Department to name a few BAARC, BPT, Mahindra & Mahindra's etc for Essay and Drawing competitions, beating retreat etc were the highlights of Fire Service Week.
