Dahua Technology, a leading solution provider in the global video surveillance industry, announced today that it has provided a comprehensive security cover for the ongoing 10 day ‘Rath Yatra Festival’ in Ahmadabad, Gujarat in western India. The mega event which occurs every year around this time is expected to attract over 10 million devotees.
Dahua has made elaborate arrangements to monitor and counter any terror threat by keeping round-the-clock video surveillance of vantage points in the city. It has deployed 180 IP Cameras, 10 Speed Domes and 5 NVRs, each with 32 Channel, to cover more than 54 routes. The company has also meticulously executed the Control Room set up in the Police Commissioner’s Office to monitor live the real-time events.

Rath Yatra
The 140th Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath (Lord Vishnu) commenced in the city on Sunday, June 25 amid tight security as lakhs of devotees flocked the 15-km journey route to catch a glimpse of the deity. Gujarat Chief Minister Mr. Vijay Rupani and Deputy Chief Minister Mr.Nitin Patel performed 'Pahind Vidhi'- a symbolic ritual of cleaning the way for the chariots.
The chariots of Lord Jagannath, his brother Lord Balbhadra and sister Goddess Subhadra, then started the journey from the 400-year-old Jagannath Temple in Jamalpur area on Sunday morning. The long procession this year has 18 elephants, 101 trucks, seven cars, members of 30 `akhadas' and 18 bhajan mandalis.
The annual Rath Yatra coincides with the Rath Yatra in Puri in the state of Odisha in eastern India. It is taken out every year on 'Ashadhi Bij', the second day of Ashad month according to the Hindu calendar. As per tradition elephants have the first glimpse of Lord Jagannath, His brother Lord Balabhadra and sister Goddess Subhadra and lead the procession. The yatra halts at Saraspur, where the locals offer 'Maha Bhoj' (Prasad or sumptuous food) to the entire entourage of devotees of Lord Jagannath. It is celebrated as 'Lokotsav' or public festival of the state of Gujarat. The Ahmedabad Rath Yatra is known to be the third largest Rath Yatra festival after the Rath Yatra festivals in Kolkata and Puri, which are celebrated on the same day.
The Jagannath Temple is a temple dedicated to the Hindu God Lord Jagannath (Lord Vishnu) in the city of Ahmedabad. The temple located in the Jamalpur locality was established by Sadhu Sarangdasji about 450 years ago. The temple is famous for its annual chariot festival, the Rath Yatra. The temple remains open for devotees from 4:30 AM to 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM daily.
